He has sadly left us now\, and we hope to continue to raise money for children like Ibby in his memory. \nIf you would like to add a donation to our funding page\, please click here \nTickets:\nStandard – £12.50 \nMay contain adult material \nDoors open one hour before the performance

SUMMARY:WALK: Folkestone’s Lost Heritage -A walking tour by Mark Hourahane
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE TALK\n\n\n\nWe will take a walk around Folkestone\, looking at its architecture to gain an appreciation of the heritage that has been retained and buildings at risk.  Through pictures\, we will also get a glimpse of the past and those buildings that have been lost – as well as plans that didn’t come to fruition. \nThe walk should take 2-3 hours and is mostly along relatively level ground including The Leas.  There may be a few cobblestones and gradients\, e.g. the pedestrian precinct. \nWe would recommend sensible walking shoes\, appropriate dress for the weather\, bringing any walking aids you may need and sun protection if it is a bright day. \nIf the weather is particularly inclement\, the walk can be given in the comfort of The Community Room as a slideshow presentation. \nThe walk starts and ends in The Community Room on The Bayle.  Refreshments will be provided upon return. \nONLINE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL!  Places are limited.  See below for Booking Information. If you have issues booking online\, please New Folkestone Society \nOr treasurer@newfolkestonesociety.org.uk or www.ticketsource.co.uk/newfolkestonesociety \n

They are as old as the fossils in Folkestone Museum’s collection. \nJoin Helen for an art masterclass on the 12th of April to learn how to paint your own pebble. No experience required\, all materials provided – but you can bring your own pebble! \nBook your place on the masterclass today.

SUMMARY:Talk & Concert: Howard Skempton (accordian)
DESCRIPTION:Distinguished composer Howard Skempton introduces and performs his ‘austerely beautiful\, sparse\, decidedly enigmatic music.’ (The Guardian).\n\n\nThe melodies and chord patterns he uses may be commonplace\, familiar\, or even banal\, but once we step into his world\, we don’t hear them like that any more. By stripping everything away except what is essential\, Skempton’s music clears a space for us to hear sound as sound\, letting the gentle play of pattern seep deeply into our consciousness. At this point\, simplicity becomes marvellous\, complex\, astonishingly beautiful. We see familiar objects in a new light\, as we’d never seen them before\, transformed. (The Guardian) \nSkempton      works for accordion \nPart of Folkestone New Music’s Music Club. \n\nGeneral Admission £10 but pay what you can.
