A Sam Kelly and Gregg Kofi Brown concept, members of two legendary bands. Sam is a founding member and drummer with one of the most sampled bands in history ‘CYMANDE’. Gregg is a forty-year veteran of the Godfathers of afrobeat & jazz and afro-rock, OSIBISA.
Roots 8 bring a world tropical brand of music. This multi-national eight-piece “All Star” band boasts a wealth of super talented musicians creating a sound that draws on rare groove rhythms combined with Caribbean / Afro Jazz, African back beats and Soulful melodies.
With an international tour, festival bookings and many performance shows booked throughout 2023, Roots 8 are much in demand. They look forward to bringing their music to the World Jazz Live Sessions to The Tower.
