The next event sees the return of the Folkestone Baroque Ensemble, Folkestone’s very own, in Telemania, a fabulous programme dedicated entirely to the works of Georg Philipp Telemann.
The most prolific composer of the entire Baroque period, friend of Bach and godfather to his son CPE Bach, Telemann was equally at home in the Italian and French idioms, his music often laced with an exotic folk element absorbed from his trips to Eastern Europe (particularly Poland).
The programme includes two of his greatest chamber masterpieces, the ‘Paris Quartets’ as well as a trio sonata and one of his Fantasias for solo violin.
